Dr. Sourav Basu

Dr. Sourav Basu is a founding faculty member and an Associate Professor at Norbuling Rigter College, Bhutan. As the college’s AI Focal Person, he has developed institutional AI policy frameworks and led numerous training programmes on AI skills enhancement within Bhutan and beyond.

Dr. Basu, an alumnus of the University of Western Australia, has pursued his education across India, Australia, and Bhutan. He holds a PhD in Management, an MBA, a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, a Graduate Certificate in HR and Employment Relations, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education. He also holds the copyright for his work Collaborative Intelligence: The Future of Human – AI Synergy and a design patent in his name for an AI powered dual-screen dashboard that enhances teamwork.

Dr. Basu made his professional mark in Bhutan in 2012 when he joined Royal Thimphu College as a Lecturer, where he served for four years. With around 15 years of experience in higher education, his contributions have earned international recognition, including the World Icon of Peace Award (2019) in Nigeria and being listed among the 100 Most Dedicated Professors (2019) by the World Education Congress. His scholarly work was later honoured with the Asia’s Best Researcher Award in Management (2023) and the Most Outstanding Global Educator and Researcher Award (2024).
